book of aphorisms by a Pakistani lawyer
IRAQ
- If one American or allied soldier dies in surreptitious attacks in the occupied Iraq, it becomes an international news event of media splashing, mourning and condolences and if dozens of Iraqi children and men get killed who accidentally come in the way of freedom fighters in attempts to subvert the aggressors in the st1uggle for resistance of occupation, they are either branded as insurgents, deserving instantaneous death or are consigned unnamed and unsung to anonymity, like slaughtered sheep.
- Thirty five thousand Iraqi soldiers were killed by the Americans forces in occupying Iraq and tens of thousands of old and young were anested in the darkness of nights from their homes and intenogated, bodily abused, humiliated and tortured in theAmerican detention jails for the purpose of crash lessons in democracy.
- In a story of the Arabian N’ights, the people of a small kingdom were menaced and forced to supply every year a beautiful damsel for service and meals to an ogre, living in a nearby cave. Sindbad came to their rescue and killed the ogre, In the present times, the ogres of Western powers have exponentially increasing needs of energy and require uninterrupted flow of oil of the Gulf and the Middle East from where the stories of Arabian Nights originated. But it will be futile to expect that there can come a modem Sindbad to their rescue. Saddam Hussain, himself a man of dubious record, proved no match for them, whom the ogres squashed like an insect.
- Out of his boundless love for mankind, God sent his son Christ to atone for Adam’s original sin for which man was eternally condemned to hell. Christ gave the supreme sacrifice of his life as a common criminal to save man. Every Christian believes this. But the irony is that his followers in Europe and America, including Bush and Blair, the born-again Christians, do not believe it. Historically, since the last five centuries, Christ’s compassion and sacrifice was practiced by the Europeans by occupation, devastation and desecration of mankind, causing maximum cruelty, bloodshed and pain which were never perpetrated in history by non-Christians on such large scale of millions upon millions of death in wars and pogroms, wherever the West went for unlimited greed and lust for appropriation, colonization and usurpation ofland.
- Only a power drunk and naive aggressor, like President Bush, will put up such a bizarre and horrific justification for occupying, captivating and killing hundreds of thousands of Iraqi soldiers and civilians that the America spent hundreds of billions of dollars on material and movement and came to Iraq just for restoring freedom and democracy to Iraqi people. This freedom has been secured, among other horrible crimes, by the occupying forces by forcibly entering Iraqi houses in the dead of nights to defile sanctity and privacy of their homes, molesting children, women and old men huddling them in comers at the points of rifle bayonets and arresting and taking away men hand-cuffed, blind-folded or hooded for physical tortures and sexual assaults never to return to their families and finally to complete Iraqi humiliation and American jubilation, by taking video pictures of the disgraced and terrified faces of the hapless families and stooped, naked and bloodied bodies of the arrested victims for world-wide display on the television media, as an assurance to the American public of firm action and as an abject lesson to the incompliant and obdurate Muslims.
- Americans report that they have, so far, spent two trillion dollars on their invasion of Iraq and propose to spend billions more on its reconstruction after destroying it, including donations from Arabs and allies, to create massive monetary opportunities for their multinational corporations. There is also trillions of dollars’ worth of oil in Iraq for extraction and payments to American contractors. The Americans have wisely invested in Iraq for the benefit of their coming generations.
- It is a truism of history that the conquerors have always resorted to the mantras of altruism for conquest and colonization, as the coalition forces are now employing for capturing Iraq for the ostensible benefit of Iraq without reference to the actual reason to exploit its abundant oil deposits to their advantage. After the evil of Saddam, comes the curse of President Bush for the Iraqi people, who own the second largest proven oil reserves in the world.
- Conquering a country is a messy job these days. The freedom fighters in Iraq keep poppin up to kill and be killed, although you label them as terrorists. They are ungrateful and fail to appreciate that the hundreds of billions of dollars were spent gratis to emancipate them from the yoke of tyranny, according to the victors.
- Invasion of Iraq by President Bush and the Prime Minister Tony Blair is not a crime against humanity, because what is a crime against humanity is determined and enforced by these powerful men, and surely they are not going to condemn themselves; nor the international criminal court ofjustice at Hague will even try them for war crimes; the values of humanity and peace are meaningless, before the demands of power and greed for oil.
- The race is not always to the swift, nor the battle for oil to the strong. This is precisely the grim lesson the Iraqi freedom fighters are teaching, by guerilla attacks, to their American oppressors and occupiers.
- The latest example is the occupation of Iraq for oil and hegemony in the Middle East, first on the pretext of finding and eliminating weapons of mass destruction and now in the absence of such weapons, on the ludicrous excuse of cleansing Iraq of the tyrant Saddam Hussain, to develop democracy and to preserve freedom of Iraqi people under American captivity, degradation and sexual abuses of the civilians in prisons, like Abu Graib. History will, indeed, record that the Americans brought such freedom and democracy on the wings of B-52 bombers, the largest and fastest in the world, on the uranium depleted tips of the missiles and crater-creating huge “shock and awe” laser-guided bombs and by killing thirty five thousand Iraqi soldiers against 145 deaths of American soldiers with hundreds of thousands of Iraqi civilians abused and tortured in jails, in a unilateral massacre without the mandate of Security Council of the United Nations.
