Poetry

  1. Poetry without passion is like reason without realism.
  2. If distance between passion and thought is short, it is poetry; if it is long, it is prose.
  3. Poetry is more enjoyed than explained. It is a felt experience of the words intertwined with emotions. The essence of poetry is inexplicable.
  4. There has always been fewer poets than prose writers. Poetry sears and does not pay.
  5. Poetry cannot be taught. Only love of poetry can be evoked.
  6. Prose is a robust sense and poetry is a captivating sensibility.
  7. The intrinsic value of poetry is that it is poetry.
  8. Prose is rising to the central theme by exposition. Poetry is descending to the core emotion by condensation.
  9. A culture is as refined as its poetry and as progressive as its iconoclastic prose .

About Rasheed Akhund

In every family, if one is lucky, there appears a figure so marvellously singular, so steeped in wisdom and warmth that he becomes a sort of personal North Star. Rasheed Ahmed Akhund was such a man; measured, principled and enigmatic. A man who, like the best of us, lived not for show but for substance. He belonged to a dwindling class of men who thought deeply, spoke sparingly and forgave quietly.

“A person cannot say that reality is above human comprehension because, being human, he cannot know that there is anything above his comprehension"

- on Philosophy

“lf you attempt to prove existence of God with cold logic, you will land him in contradictions. If you feel him warmly, he is universal love and sense of perfection.”
